From fireworks over City Park to hot air balloons painting the sky at sunrise, there is truly something for every age and interest. Whether you’re new to the area or a longtime neighbor, this is the time to plant your lawn chair, grab a cold drink, and discover why Westminster and Broomfield are such wonderful places to call home.

4th of July Celebration & Fireworks 🆚
4:00 PM – 10:00 PM • Westminster City Park, 10455 Sheridan Blvd.
Westminster’s Independence Day celebration draws around 12,000 neighbors to City Park for live music, food and drink vendors, lawn games, and the best fireworks display in the north metro area — a full 20-minute show starting at 9:15 PM. Kick off the day earlier with the Uncle Sam Splash Bash at Countryside Pool (1:00–3:00 PM), featuring a $300 quarter drop and belly flop contest the whole family will love. Free shuttles run from City Hall, The MAC, West View Rec Center, and College Hill Library — parking is extremely limited, so plan to ride. → Full details & shuttle schedule

Great American Picnic 🇺🇸
5:00 PM – Fireworks at 9:15 PM • Broomfield County Commons Park, 13200 Sheridan Blvd.
Broomfield’s beloved Independence Day tradition is back, with live music starting at 6:00 PM, inflatables and a bubble tower for kids, a beer garden for adults, and a spectacular fireworks show to close out the evening. New this year, a Bike Parade kicks off at 5:30 PM — decorate your bicycle, wagon, or scooter and join your neighbors for this festive and family-friendly procession through the park. Erie Hot Air Balloon Festival 🎈
Daily Mass Ascension 6:00 AM; Saturday Night Glow 5:00–9:30 PM • Colliers Hill Open Space, Erie
Just a short drive from Broomfield, dozens of magnificent hot air balloons — including a fleet of whimsical special-shape balloons — fill the Colorado sky each morning as the Rockies glow behind them. New this year are tethered rides that lift you high enough to catch the first golden rays of sunrise, plus a spectacular Saturday Night Balloon Glow where the inflatables turn into giant, flickering lanterns against the dark sky. FREE 1870s Vintage Baseball Game ⚾

Step back in time with the Westminster Historical Society as players take the diamond using authentic 1870s rules, equipment, and gentleman’s conduct — in full period costume. Between innings, suffragette re-enactors take the field to dramatize the fight for the right to vote, making this a genuinely moving slice of living history. Admission is completely free, and the Society will be making commemorative buttons celebrating Westminster’s 115th anniversary to take home. → More information

Summer Sunday Festival: Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra 🎵

Broomfield’s beloved Summer Sunday Festival series returns to the charming Brunner Farmhouse grounds, this month featuring the acclaimed Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra delivering big-band jazz standards, contemporary arrangements, and powerhouse musicianship for the whole family. Arrive early for interactive booths, local food trucks, and community activities from 4:00–6:00 PM before the full concert gets rolling at 6:00 PM. Each Wednesday evening, a rotating lineup of local solo artists, duos, and small bands takes the stage at Central Square Plaza for Plaza Sessions, Westminster’s free midweek concert series celebrating homegrown talent. July 15 features the Mandolin Ranch Duo — grab takeout from a nearby restaurant, pull up a chair, and let the week unwind to the sounds of your community. Westminster’s summer Movies in the Park series returns under the Colorado night sky with the highly anticipated sequel The Bad Guys 2, projected on a giant outdoor screen with the Front Range as a backdrop. Live music and pre-show activities start at 7:00 PM, and food concessions will be on hand — just bring your blanket, lawn chairs, and your best movie snacks. Fresh, local, and in season — the Orchard Farmers Market runs every Sunday through September, offering Colorado-grown produce, local treats, handmade goods, and artisan vendors rain or shine in the Macy’s parking lot. July 20 also features a Special Artisan Event on Town Center Drive, making it a perfect excuse to explore the whole area, grab a coffee, and browse what local makers have been creating all summer. Westminster’s premier beer festival is back for another summer, pouring unlimited 5-oz samples from 35+ regional breweries against a sweeping backdrop of Front Range mountain views, live music, and food trucks. VIP ticket holders get in an hour early, enjoy a complimentary dinner, access to the VIP tent’s exclusive tap, and reserved port-o-lets — and VIP spots routinely sell out before the day arrives.
